Prenatal Visit: Hello Baby!

A mother's prenatal visit is a perfect time to help her begin to connect with her baby and get used to talking with her baby, even before the baby arrives. During those prenatal visits, you can help them begin to see their baby as a life-long conversational partner, and build their confidence in talking with their baby.

At Birth: Happy Birthday Baby!

The birth of a baby is one of the best times to engage new parents in talking with their baby, and teaching them how to think of their new baby as a conversational partner. Parents want the best for their babies, so this is a great time to explain to them why talking with their baby helps their child's brain grow. This is also a great time to model the coaching you have learned.

Nine Month Check

Each visit moms and babies make to the doctor's office or the health clinic is a great opportunity for everyone on staff to participate in talking with the baby, and reinforce the family's efforts to talk with their baby. Staff from the front desk staff to the nursing assistant to the doctor can talk to the baby, and ask the caregiver how the conversations with the baby are going.
